Questions for my lovely readers

I was asked {awhile ago} by a beautiful young women with an amazing blog to write a guest post on keeping Christ at the center of your marriage.

I was humbled and honored that she had read my blog and then asked me to write about such am important issue.

I have been thinking and praying about what it really means to keep Christ as the firm foundation and true center of a relationship/marriage.

But some questions started to arise and I love to hear from this beautiful community about it.

1// how do YOU keep Christ at the center of your relationship/marriage now?

2// what does it mean to keep Christ at the center?

3// is it more then just reading and praying?

4// how important is it for you to keep Christ at the center?

5// what else would you like to do to keep Christ at the center?

Please just comment below and let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance lovelies!

Growing as a community and love. -monica

I'm really excited to see what you have to say about this. :)

It's a good subject because it's important - I believe it was Smith Wigglesworth that said it eventually got to the point where he was more aware of the presence of the Holy Spirit in the room than he was his own wife in the room - I think it all comes down to relationship...My husband can't build my relationship and I can't build his - we have to do it ourselves....and we can tell when one of us hasn't been in the Word...little arguments gets picked and whatnot. It's annoying. haha.

I look forward to reading this. I know this will be an area that will always be a struggle simply because it goes against our culture and our nature.

Lee and I try to have family devotion. (I say try because we haven't stuck with it long term.)

We also have a lot of discussion about our beliefs on different issues.

We challenge one another to have personal quiet times.

I think you have to have Christ in the center of your life before he can be the center of your marriage.

Sorry I didn't exactly answer your questions, but just shared some random thoughts. :)

I love that you're looking for input from the blogging world! I would love to help you out, so here it goes!

1) For me personally keeping God at the center of our marriage means fervently praying for our marriage/my husband. Also making sure that God is at the center of my own life personally.

2)My personal definition of keeping Christ at the center is remembering that everything we do is ultimately for His glory. That's what our calling as believer is. It means consciously making time for God in our everyday lives and giving ourselves completely over to Him.

3)Yes, I'd say it is more than just reading and praying. It's a mindset. I don't know how better to describe that though, I'll be thinking on that.

4) Extremely important. I can tell a huge difference when I'm not actively seeking to keep Christ in his rightful position. Not only in my marriage, but in all aspects of my life.

5) My hubby and I have tried on multiple accounts to try and either just read the Bible together a few nights a week or do a devotional together. We really need to get back into that, it has just been hard since having our daughter even though it's been a year now.

I hope you are doing well and everything is going well with your pregnancy so far!

I LOVE this girl! You're awesome, Moni.

Even though you've probably already written this....

1) We listen to Daily Audio Bible (DAB) daily. It's a man who has his own blog and podcast. He reads through the Bible every year. Each day is some old testament, some Psalms, some Proverbs and some new testament. Then he speaks about what he read and what God's saying. Then there are prayer requests and praise reports from all of his listeners. This is how we start out our day =} And we try to remember to do this as well: To send each other little texts or ask throughout the day what we hear God saying. We also read books on marriage or spiritual growth together most nights. Aaaaand lastly, we worship together (him on guitar, me singing)

2. It means not forgetting that we are a three strand chord. We are supposed to do things together as a married couple, yes, but more importantly, we are supposed to do things as a trinity. It means inviting him into our lives on a daily basis. Inviting him into our arguments. Into our exercise. Into our meals. And EVEN into our sex! Trust me, when you invite God into your sex (which He wants to be blessing anyway), He will definitely bless it! He made it to be gooood.

3. Yes. Without relationship, which involves conversation (2-way), than you don't truly know God. We need to strive to worship in all we do. Everything and anything CAN be used as an act of worship. (Including sex haha. That's a biggy (thank you Lori and Barry)).

4. It is very important. I sure do screw up on that one though! When you're staying in communion throughout the day, it definitely makes it easier to not get offended or hurt though. It makes it easier to not get angry and disrespectful also.

5. I would like to prophesy more, like I used to. Not just over other people, but over me as well. Just always being on my toes, always listening. What is prophecy besides hearing what God says??
